Configuring email notifications for new registrations and new orders

Expandcart offers two ways to send notifications to customers and shop owners

1- PHPmail:  PHP mail is the built in PHP function that is used to send emails from PHP scripts to users and admins without email authentication ( Username and Password ), and this may cause delay up to 24 hours or blocking in sending mails.

Find below Figure 1.1  for phpmail setting :

2- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) :   This method send mails more faster and more secure using email authentication via Username and password, some providers reject this type of connection like Yahoo, Hotmail and Zoho, On the contrary some of them allow it like Gmail or Gsuit, also can be activated by Paid subscription thorough SMTP providers like:

After subscription can access to provider control panel to obtain the SMTP data and insert it on your store as shown in Figure 1.2 and Figure 1.3

Can also activate SMTP through FREE GMAIL account by following these steps :
1- Create free gmail account from here : shorturl.at/tSTVY

2- Allow access for less secure apps as Figure 1.4

Note: If you use 2 factor authentication to access your Google account, access for less secure apps cannot be enabled. In this case, you will have to disable it

3- If you want to take advantage of IMAP protocol and store all outgoing emails in your Gmail Sent folder, follow these steps in Figure 1.5 and Figure 1.6 :

4 -Find Google SMTP details below and fill it in your store panel, Figure 1.7

5- Now you have to test configuration by make new order or new account, then check your email inbox and outbox folder.

Note: Google may block first attempt to send mail, in this case you will receive a mail from google to whitelist store ip, once whitelisted can test it again.
